Tule River Tribe of California, and in furtherance of the Tribal Council’s authority and responsibility to provide for the safety, health, and morals of the Tribe, the Council hereby enacts this Ordinance for the purpose of establishing the Tribal membership policies and procedures for the Tule River Indian Tribe.

This Ordinance supersedes and replaces any and all prior ordinances, laws, or codes related to the provision of affordable housing services assisted by funding provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The purpose of this Ordinance is to establish clear and uniform policies and procedures for the use, assignment and development of lands within the Tule River Indian Reservation, and those lands outside the Reservation boundaries that are acquired by the Tribe. All lands held in trust by the United States Government for or on behalf of the Tribe and lands owned by the Tribe shall be governed and subject to the provisions of this Ordinance. The provisions of this Ordinance are intended to protect the needs of tribal members and activities of the Tribe while preserving and protecting the long-term interest in tribally controlled and other lands in such a way as to promote and otherwise safeguard the interests of the Tu1e River Indian Tribe.

The purpose of the Committee is to provide informed advice and recommendations to the Tribal Council on Jaw enforcement issues. The Law Enforcement Committee shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Tule River Tribal Council, to assist with law enforcement policy.

 The major purpose of the Advisory Board is to determine the need for rehabilitation and community education regarding the use of alcohol and other substances and to act as an advisor to the Tribal Council on matters relating to the Tule River Alcoholism Program.

The Tule River Tribal Council established the Towanits School Advisory Board for the sole purpose of advising the Superintendent VPrincipal and the Tule River Tribal Council in the development and operation of Towanits School in a manner that best meets the educational, cultural and linguistic needs of the Tribe’s children and Tribal Community. Should any of the articles or elements contained in the Towanits School Advisory Board Bylaws conflict with Tule River Tribal Council policy, Tule River Tribal Council policy shall prevail.
