The TRTPD Police Officer/High Country Ranger division totals five officers; all have Special Law Enforcement Commission (SLEC) through the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) recognizing them as federal police officers. We recently have implemented a community oriented style of policing that allows officers to work with community and remain proactive in patrolling and establishing solid relationships with departments that deal directly with the youth. We work collaboratively with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) as well as other municipal/state agencies/federal agencies i.e. (Probation/Parole, California Fish and Game, US Forestry). During the summer months we have established and maintained a great relationship with the United States Army National Guard (USANG) who supports the TRTPD with air surveillance and foot patrols of reported marijuana cultivation, along with other state task force groups that support eradication/reclamation of the Tule River Indian Reservation.
